Clan Des Obeaux ready for big things
Connections of Clan Des Obeaux believe running conditions at Down Royal will be perfect for him on Saturday.
The seven-year-old is set for a run in the Grade One Ladbrokes Champions Chase as Paul Nicholls aims to get a fifth win in the three-mile feature race.

He is looking to get his season off to a perfect start after only winning one of three races in 2019 so far.
Assistant trainer Harry Derham is convinced the ground is going to be favourable.
“The right-handed track will suit well and it’s the target before he goes to the King George and other places,” said Nicholls’ assistant, Harry Derham.
“He is very well, I think he has improved this year and will take a lot of beating. He had a school on Thursday morning and we are very happy with him.
“I wouldn’t swap him. I have the ultimate respect for the other horses and I think it will be a very good race as it should be for a Grade One. A right-handed Grade One is perfect for him.
“His record right-handed over three miles is exceptional.”
Morrison planning Marmelo appeal
Hughie Morrison says he plans to appeal the decision to withdraw Marmelo out of next week’s Melbourne Cup.
The talented runner, who was beaten by a length into second by Cross Counter in the feature race last 10 months ago, has impressed this year after winning a Deauville Group Two contest in August.
However, the six-year-old was instructed to have a scan at the start of this week after Racing Victoria vets found him to be sore and two “incomplete fractures” were discovered in both a fore and hind leg.
A statement on www.racingvictoria.com.au read: “Having considered the RV veterinary report, in addition to veterinary reports submitted by trainer Hughie Morrison, stewards acting under AR20(d) have ordered the withdrawal of the horse from the Melbourne Cup.
“Stewards made their decision to ensure the safety and well-being of Marmelo, along with his potential competitors and riders.”
Morrison is not happy with the withdrawal, though, and says he and his team are looking to contest the decision ahead of the big race on November 5.
He said: “I’m trying to sort an appeal out. It’s not only me this has happened to.”
The Charlie Appleby-trained Ispolini has also been withdraw due to injury.
