Connections ponder Kachy plans

Trainer Tom Dascombe has revealed discussions are taking place over where to send Kachy next after Saturday’s late withdrawal.

Kachy was meant to run in the Cleves Stakes at Lingfield at the weekend but was forced to pull out of the race just minutes before the fast-track qualifier after he was found to be lame.

Connections are now pondering the next move for the seven-year-old and Dascombe, who revealed his charge is fit and well after the incident, has suggested the camp may stick with Plan A, which is to qualify for the All-Weather Championship Finals on Good Friday.

“Kachy’s grand. He’s absolutely fine, no bother at all,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “It was just one of those awful things where it goes wrong when you don’t want it to.

“I’m looking forward to working out what we’re going to do next. If we’re going to run in the All-Weather Championships (Final), we’ve only got two choices. We either win the fast-track qualifier at Chantilly (on March 3) or we run him three times before (on the all-weather).

“It’s just a little irritating but it’s fine.”
