Solo will run in the JCB Triumph Hurdle

Trainer Paul Nicholls has confirmed Solo will run in the JCB Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham after his fantastic victory at Kempton.

Solo, on his first start for Nicholls, produced a dominant performance in the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Adonis Juvenile Hurdle to win by a massive 13 lengths from Fujimoto Flyer.

The four-year-old had far too much class to claim the Grade Two prize as he led from start to finish and his odds for the JCB Triumph Hurdle at next month’s Cheltenham Festival have been slashed as a result.

Speaking about Solo, Nicholls says he has been delighted with what he has seen from his new charge and there is no question he will be heading to Prestbury Park now.

“I’m obviously delighted. He showed us at home he was quite smart, but I wanted to see that sort of performance,” he said. “As I said earlier with Pic D’Orhy, sometimes these French horses come over and you don’t know whether they have acclimatised, but he has.

“He has been a joy to train and does everything nicely. He is dead relaxed and did that impressively. He thrives on every bit of work you give him. The Triumph will suit him nicely.

“At the moment he would head up our juveniles and he is very smart. He will definitely have to run in the Triumph now, so fingers crossed he stays healthy over the next two weeks.”
