Sharing poised for Royal raid

Breeders’ Cup winner Sharing looks set to be sent across the Atlantic for this month’s Royal Ascot meeting for a crack at the Coronation Stakes.

The three-year-old enjoyed a sensational debut season on the turf in the United States, capped off by victory by one-and-a-quarter lengths in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita in November.

The daughter of Speightstown returned to action in May at Churchill Downs, blowing away the cobwebs with a fairly routine victory by half a length to effectively punch her ticket for Royal Ascot.

Despite all the travel restrictions currently imposed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, connections are still keen for the Graham Motion-trained filly to take her chance on June 20 with a run in the Coronation Stakes.

“Objective number one was to get a good race into her on May 23 at Churchill,” Aron Wellman of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, who owns Sharing with Antony Beck’s Gainesway Stable, told Bloodhorse.com.

“As of this moment, between Graham, myself, and Antony Beck, we feel pretty comfortable with the logistics of getting Sharing to England ahead of the Coronation [Stakes] and with the efficiency of being able to get her back as well.

“If she continues to train as impressively over the course of the next 10-12 days or so, puts in a good work the weekend of the 13th at Fair Hill, and comes out of it well, our inclination is to go to Royal Ascot.”
