Raabihah run suggests Arc challenge

The odds have been slashed for Jean-Claude Rouget-charge Raabihah to win the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, after an impressive victory this weekend.

The daughter of Sea The Stars claimed success in the Group 3 Prix de Psyche at Deauville on Saturday, with a three-and-a-half length victory over the Andre Fabre duo Wangari and Alkandora.

The victory came off the back of a disappointing run in the Group 1 Prix De Diane at Chantilly last month, which was only her third start, but she responded in fine fashion to suggest she is one to watch for the Arc.

Speaking after the win, Rouget said: “She is clearly a Group 1 filly and it’s a real shame to miss out in the Diane. Today there was Raabihah and then the rest and I think she’s the best filly in France.”

The trainer went on to add: “I haven’t trained a filly as good as her since Stacelita and that was why I was so down after the Prix de Diane. Her second and third dams both won the Oaks and we’ll look at the Arc with the Vermeille in between.”

Raabihah, who has already enjoyed a victory at Longchamp in a Listed Stakes in May, is now into 16/1 with bet365 for the Group 1 contest – with the Arc due to take place on Sunday October 4.
