Doyle expecting big things from Glorious Journey

Jockey James Doyle says Glorious Journey should be the one to beat when
he runs in the Dubai Duty Free Cup at Newbury on Friday.

The five-year-old has not won since January this year, with Doyle partnering
him to success at Meydan.

Since then, William Buick finished third at Riyadh, while Doyle was unable to
see him to victory at Goodwood and Newbury.

After a short break, the gelded son of Dubawi will return for trainer Charlie
Appleby, alongside stablemate D’bai.

A drop down in trip should now suit Doyle’s ride, and he believes it will make
the difference on Friday afternoon.

He told reporters: “He definitely needs to put a couple of below-par runs
behind him. The team at home are happy with him, so hopefully, he can go well,
but he does need to bounce back.

“Conditions should be perfect for him as we know he likes the track having
won the Group Two there last year.

“Hopefully the ground won’t dry out too much as he does like to get his
toe in, but good ground should be fine.”
