Royal Kahala has won a third race at Fairyhouse after crossing the line first in the Wishing Everyone a Healthy 2021 Mares Hurdle.
Peter Fahey’s six-year-old won by five lengths ahead of Hook Up in a very accomplished display.
It was a third consecutive win after triumphs in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle and the Pro/Am Flat Race in November.
Jockey Kevin Sexton took a gamble to go on the inside of Razzle Dazzle Love, who led for most of the race but had a tendency to jump left.
Then, she made a charge at Hook Up going into the final hurdle and broke clear on the finishing straight after an error from her main rival.
After the race, Fahey expressed his delight at the win and says the plan is to return to Fairyhouse again before having a crack at the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.
“I know it was a hot race, but the way she won the last two she found loads in the closing stages,” he said.
“She did it again today and she’s a very nice filly, we are lucky to have her.
“I’d say the plan will be to come back here for the Solerina Hurdle at the end of the month. She did it well today and fingers crossed everything goes all right and she comes back here.”
