Arod ready for York test

Trainer David Simcock is confident Arod is in good shape ahead of his run in the Ganton Stakes at York on Friday.

The seven-year-old won a Listed race at Windsor last time out after finishing second at Kempton in his previous race, his first run of the year.

Simcock’s charge was initially in line to go in the Diomed Stakes at Epsom but the ground wasn’t suitable and he’s been saved for Friday’s race at York instead.

Simcock has been pleased with the build-up and believes the Ganton Stakes will be an ideal test.

“Arod is in very good order at the moment,” he told Sky Sports.

“He was second at Kempton first time out this year – he dusted away a few cobwebs. And then he was good at Windsor.

“We would love to have run him at Epsom but in my opinion he’s definitely better on faster ground.

“He is a horse that looks good at home. He is not short of speed and a mile is probably his perfect trip.”
