Pollyanna Heading To Ascot

Trainer Michael Bell insists he always planned on taking Pretty Pollyanna to Royal Ascot for the Albany Stakes.

The two-year-old proved too strong for the eight other newcomers in the field as she ran out to victory at Yarmouth on Thursday and will now head to Ascot next week.

She did show signs of greenness as expected on her first outing but Bell is keen to test his charge again at Ascot next week.

Pretty Pollyanna went off at 14/1 and was very quickly on the shoulder of favourite Assembly Of Truth, who had to settle for third, before attacking just a furlong from home.

The daughter of Oasis Dream showed great stamina to break to the front ahead of Assembly Of Truth, while Kareen Kapoor came in second, beaten by half a length.

Bell claims he always had the Albany Stakes at Ascot in his mind and hopes his charge can go out and execute the second phase of their plan next week.

“If she came and ran well we were going to think about the Albany,” Bell told At The Races.

“This race has been the plan for three weeks.”It was a nice introduction and hopefully she’ll now go to Ascot provided she eats up. She’s a robust filly with a very good constitution.

“This has been our plan for a while. Plan A has come off so now we will execute phase two.”
