Liberty Beach takes another step forward

Liberty Beach has taken another step up the class ladder on Wednesday at Goodwood with a win in the Markel Insurance Molecomb Stakes.

The daughter of Cable Bay showed a swift turn of pace to see off the challenge from the fast-finishing Alligator Alley to win by a length having been sent off 11/8 favourite. Jockey Jason Harr hit the front half a furlong out and never looked back.

Trainer John Quinn said: “I put her in the Prix Morny this morning. It’s a race I love. We won it with The Wow Signal and this is a very high-class filly.

“The Lowther is the same week, so I hope it will be the Lowther or the Morny, then the Abbaye and the Breeders’ Cup.

“You need tactical speed in America and she has that.”

Owner Philip Wilkins who bought her back at the sales last year was delighted, adding: “We just love racing and that’s why we’re here. I’m overwhelmed.”
